IJHS Forensics Team Finishes a Stellar Year
The IJHS Forensics Team once again placed in all seven categories at the final tournament of this season’s Five County Junior High Forensics League held Thursday, November 1 here at Indiana Junior High School, winning 17 ribbons with three first places, including two perfect scores, against a field of twelve schools. In addition, four students posted their personal best finishes and won tied hers--a perfect score!
In Drama, Morgan Adamson, 7th grade, won 5th place, her personal best. Freshmen Avery Olenchick & Aviana Struzzi, Duo Drama, won third place.
The Impromptu team had a strong showing. Carson Midkiff, 9th grade, won first with a perfect score; Gabe Kenning, 8th grade, won second, and Lucy Powers, 7th grade, won seventh.
The Informative team also made a strong showing. Maura Knepper, 8th grade, won second place,Tristan Reddinger, 7th grade, won third place, and Marina Conjelko, 7th grade, won fourth place;
All four competitors in Persuasive Speaking placed. Johnny Trevorrow, 7th grade, again took the first place ribbon while 8th grade Olivia Seo took second place, her personal best. Sara Welch, 9th grade, and Alvin Liu, 8th grade, tied for fourth place, Alvin's personal best.
In Poetry, Delia Salser, 7th grade, won second place, her personal best. Lee Rosenberger, 8th grade, won fifth place, and Emily Fields, 8th grade, won 6th place.
In Prose, 8th graders Sophie Runge won first place with her second perfect score of the season while Henry Rummel placed fifth.
Other members of the IJHS Forensics Team include veteran 8th graders Audrea Barbara, Oliva Burkhart, and Olivia Keith. Making their debut were Chloe Williams, 8th grade, and James Mill, 7th grade.
The IJHS Forensics team is coached by Ms. Robyn Bailey-Orchard, who would like to thank IHS intern Jessica Morse for her assistance preparing for tournament and former Forensic Team competitors and current IHS students Parker Koons, Talia Mastalski, Audra Moore, Silas Schiera, Abby Walker for serving as judges as well as student-teachers Miss Cassidy, Mr. Dingus, and Miss O’Donnell.
