The IJHS Forensics Team once again placed in all seven categories at the second of this season’s Five County Junior High Forensics League Tournaments held Thursday, October 18 at Somerset Junior School, winning 19 ribbons, four more than in the first tournament. In addition, the team placed first in four of the seven categories including two perfect scores.
In Drama, Morgan Adamson, 7th grade, won 7th place.
Freshmen Avery Olenchick & Aviana Struzzi, duo drama, also won 7th place.
The Impromptu team won the top three spots. Veteran Impromptu competitor Carson Midkiff, 9th grade, won first; Gabe Kenning, 8th grade, won second, and Lucy Powers, 7th grade, won third.
The Informative team also made a strong showing. Maura Knepper, 8th grade, again won 1st place, this time with a perfect score of four; Marina Conjelko, 7th won 4th place; and Tristan Reddinger, 7th grade, won 5th place.
In Persuasive, 7th grader Johnny Trevorrow debuted with a first place ribbon while 8th grade Olivia Seo debuted in 3rd place. Sara Welch, 9th grade, won 4th place while Alvin Liu, 8th grade, took with 7th place.
In the highly competitive category of Poetry, Lee Rosenberger, 8th grade, won 1st place again, this time with a perfect score of four. Delia Salser,7th grade, won 6th place, and Emily Fields, 8th grade, won 7th place. Audrea Barbara, 8th grade, gave a strong performance but finished just outside placing.
The Prose speakers, all 8th graders, faced the toughest competition in the tournament but still made Indiana proud. Olivia Keith and Henry Rummel once again tied, this time for 3rd place. Olivia Burkhart improved to 5th place, and Sophie Runge won 6th.
The IJHS Forensics team is coached by Ms. Robyn Bailey-Orchard, who would like to thank former Forensic team competitors and current IHS students Alyssa Gornick, Haley Hibsman, Talia Mastalski, Parker Koons, Maddie Redhead-Kriston, and Silas Schiera for serving as judges.
