IJHS Current in 1st Place - FBI-SOS Competition

Currently, our 6th-grade students are in first place among schools from across the country in the monthly FBI-SOS National Competition for the month of April.  Students learn to be safe cyber citizens through activities on the FBI-SOS (Safe Online Surfing) Cyber Surf Islands program.  This program is a free, online, educational program designed to meet national and state internet safety mandates.

Students answer grade-appropriate questions through games to learn important internet safety concepts.  Some of the topics include protecting personal information, online predators, cyberbullying, cell phone safety, gaming safety, copyright, and fair use, and reporting.  Parents may review the site at https://sos.fbi.gov/.

IJHS Computer Concepts teachers, Mrs. Janice Brocious and Mrs. Valerie Haney, present information and encourage responsible digital citizenship throughout the school year and utilize several sites including DC (Digital Citizenship) Typing on TypingClub, Common Sense Media, FTC OnGuard Online, and FBI-SOS.
